For this project I made all natural ice cream . I bought all the ingredients and used an ice cream maker.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of whole milk
1 cup of heavy whipping milk
8oz of condensed milk
Oreos
It may look easy to make ice cream but there's a lot that goes into it. Crystallization plays a big part in Making ice cream, it needed to change phases from a liquid to a solid. In order for the ice cream to turn into a solid it had to churn and freeze. After i added the ice cream mixture into the ice cream maker, I turned it on and it began to turn. As the maker turned
it added air into the mixture and scraped the sides, by doing this the ice cream began to thicken and freeze.
Air is really important in ice cream, for example. If you were to leave ice cream out in the open (not keeping it cold) it would simply melt and lose a lot of its volume. Air make up about 30% to 50% of ice cream. By adding air the volume in the ice cream is doubled.
Looking back:
I found the process really fun. This project was low maintenance but it required time. Once I tasted it i found it really satisfying and I was really proud of myself since I did it all by myself. Instead of using regular sugar I used condensed milk instead. If it were to use sugar I would have to melted the sugar and that would have required heat. Plus it would have taken more time.
Looking forward: I really like how it turned out because it was really creamy and it had the right amount of everything. I plan on making more ice cream in the future just for fun. My only mistake was letting my friends eat it all!
