- For my final independent project for the 2nd section I decided the make Bath bombs.
Dry ingredients: (By Weight, as measured on a scale.)
- Baking Soda - 8 ounces
- Citric Acid - 4 ounces
- Corn Starch - 4 ounces
- Salts - 4 ounces
Wet Ingredients:
- Water - .75 tbsp
- Essential or Fragrance Oil - 2 tsp (for these I used Ginger and Lemon essential oil .)
- Food coloring - 1 or 2 drops.
I had to convert my measurements into grams, for example:
- 8oz - 226.796 grams
- 4oz - 113.398 grams
- .75 tbsp - 11.25 grams
- 2 tsp - 10 grams
Once I measured everything out with the scale i ground the dry ingredients into a fine powder and set it aside while I mixed the we ingredients together. I had to ask for help when it came to pouring the wet mixture into the dry mixture because I needed to be careful not to add them to fast because the citric acid and the water would react, if it started to bubble I had to mix it in or it would ruin the whole batch. I had to mix while the wet mixture was being poured in so i has someone mix while I poured. After that I hand shaped them instead of buying molds.
Looking back:
Through out this whole section I did not work with anyone else, It was only me. I think I work better by myself without anyone stressing me out, I can do my own thing without someone breathing down my neck. The results for my bath bombs turned out exactly how I hoped it would. I tested one in class and the smell filled the room (in a good way might I add).
Disclaimer!
I couldn't take a video because I was so excited/ proud of myself! It simply slipped my mind.
